Energy & Mass Balance Studies

Equipment Performance Studies:

The basic objective of the studies is to conduct detailed analysis of the specific equipment to assess the actual output, operating efficiency with relevant parameters as well as opportunities for improvements and optimization.

Energy & Mass Balance Studies

The studies involve carrying out energy & mass balance studies for the individual equipment, system or for the entire premises / plant to assess operating efficiency and identify opportunities for improvements and optimization.

The studies are tailored to meet the specific plant requirements and are difficult to generalize. However, the typical scope of the work for equipment studies could covers

  • Computing / Measuring the flow rates of various input streams
  • Gauging the heat contents of the individual streams
  • Assessing the energy conversion / generation / dissipation in the system, if applicable
  • Computing / Estimating the total system energy
  • Computing / Measuring the flow rate of the various output streams
  • Gauging the heat contents of the individual streams
  • Assessing the useful energy for the system
  • Assessing the heat losses through various sources.
  • Carrying heat and mass balance analysis
  • Assessing the performance and suggesting ways for improvement, as applicable
  • Submitting the report

  • A team of one senior engineer is deputed to carry out the studies and furnishing the report. The field visit is typically for 5 to 6 hours a day. However, the duration of the studies is difficult to ascertain at this stage.
